This past Thanksgiving week was dedicated to volunteer work for the Sacramento Hmong New Year. Over 30,000 people attended the event held at Cal Exposition, here in Sacramento.

Every year around Thanks Giving Weekend the Hmong community in Sacramento celebrates Hmong New Year. For the past few years the event has been held at Cal Exposition. The New year usually starts with a banquet the evening before opening.
One of the man attraction is the Miss Sacramento Hmong New Year Pageant. This event usually brings out the parents and elders.Picture below is the tradition Hmong clothing that represents the Hmong culture.
These colorful Hmong textile is all made by hand.
