Horsemanship is one of the most challenging skills I have tried to master. It is like a game of chess and sometimes your opponent doesn't play by the rules, okay how about never. Every horse is different and presents different challenges. (more about this later)
People often ask how does a horse know you are green (beginner)? Horses can feel the strength in your legs. Most green riders have weaker leg muscles. Also when you send the horse mix singles constantly he is going to know that you don't know what you are doing. There are other factors but those are two that gave me away when I first started to ride.
Very subtle movements are felt by the horse, like looking over your shoulders. Your horses will reflect your horsemanship skills or lack of.
