What I look for in a horse. The first is conformation. The next thing I look for is pedigree. Third, does the horse have a good mind. Other things I look for is personality and good feet. Although stallions are dollar valued higher than mares, the mares have more influence than the sires.

Here is the Sire of "Princess Sails" (my mare quarter horse)

SIRE: Topsail Cody (NRHA Hall of Fame1996) Sired by Joe Cody (NHRA Hall of Fame 1989)
HALF BROTHER: Cee Blair Sailor NRHA Hall of Fame 1995 (Sired by Topsail Cody)
Conformation: Important to match the balance of your horse for the job you need him to perform. A well balance horse will out perform a poorly put together horse and will be less likely to get injured.

Pedigree: Knowing your horses pedigree gives you a better idea about your horses performance capability.

HALF BROTHER: Topsail Whiz NRHA Hall of Fame 2003
Mind: If your horse has a good mind he/she will be more trainable.
